For too long, Americans have labored under the notion that we are able to age independently. That’s a false notion. Even those of us who are healthy—especially those of us who are healthy—will live long enough to become frail and require some kinds of assistance.

But long before we face that for ourselves, we need to understand and plan for our parents, who will live longer than they anticipated; for the successful launch of our adult children and the continuing care of our non-independent adult children. And for many, to help with the care of our grandchildren.

In other words, caregiving and care receiving is much more complicated than, “I don’t want to be a burden to my children” and “I need a long term care policy.” These statements need backup that the white, male-centric financial planning domain isn’t really equipped to give.

Let’s discuss while we’re habit stacking.
